The Bite Was Too Small to See

Human rabies cases are exceptionally rare in many countries, but the virus still circulates among wildlife. Bats are considered one of the primary vectors of the virus in regions where rabies among domesticated dogs has been brought under control.

The vast majority of bats are not infected with rabies, and they play a vital role in our ecosystem. Nevertheless, it is impossible to tell whether a specific bat carries the virus based on appearance alone. Therefore, any direct contact with them demands professional medical evaluation.
