Everyone regularly washes their sheets and pillowcases, but most people don't wash their pillows. And that's unfortunate, because they're just filthy and disgusting.

Besides saliva, and neck and head sweat, our pillows are full of bacteria, dead skin, and feces.. yes, feces.

A large part of the weight of our pillow consists of dead skin cells, small insects (dust mites), and dust mite feces, which can ruin the sleep of those who suffer from allergies.

These are the dust mite insects, and they are living right now in your pillow.

But don't stress! Before you go and throw the pillows in the trash, we have prepared for you some easy ways to wash the pillows at home without turning them into uncomfortable lumps.

Cotton, down, and synthetic pillows

1. Most pillows can be washed in a washing machine, but it is recommended to check the tag on the pillow to be sure.

2. Put the pillow in the washing machine without the pillowcase. It is recommended to wash 2 pillows together, so that the machine is balanced.

3. Add the washing powder/fluid as usual, and run the machine on warm water, and a gentle wash (if something else is written on the pillow tag, follow the instructions on the pillow).

4. After that, take the pillows out of the washing machine and put them in the dryer on low heat.

5. Make sure you turn the pillows and return them to their shape during the drying process. You can also use dryer sheets, or throw in 2-3 tennis balls to keep the pillows fluffy and cozy.

A method for cleaning a sponge pad is a little different.

Sponge cushions

1. Put 2 sponge pillows without the pillowcase into the washing machine. Again, to balance it.

2. Put washing powder/liquid, and run the machine on delicate wash. Let the machine run for a few minutes, then transfer to spin. After a few minutes, check if the pillows are still soaked. If so, leave the squeeze and check from time to time. You can take out the pillows when they are moist, but not soaked in water.

3. Transfer the pillows to the dryer, and turn on the lowest heat.

4. Add sheets to the dryer or 2-3 tennis balls. Take it out when it's dry.

If the pillow is too ugly, maybe it's time to replace it. If it's full of stains that won't come off, or causes you neck and back pain, it's probably time to replace it. It is recommended to replace the pillow every few years. If you're not sure if it's time to replace it, answer the following questions:

If the answer is yes, then go buy a new pillow.
