After seeing this, I'll never throw the eggshells in the trash again
|
On the weekends I like to sleep, relax, take everything in slow motion.. and one more important thing: I like to eat eggs for breakfast.
No matter if they are scrambled, boiled or a flat omelet, I always enjoy eating eggs.
And the eggshells of course always go to the trash.. and become forgotten.
But after reading this, it's definitely going to change.
It's no secret that large amounts of food are wasted every year. One thing we can improve on is to check our quantities in the best way and serve only meals with the quantity we know we will eat.
But here's something I never thought of: That thing that seems "inedible" can actually have very beneficial health gains in it. Take for example the eggshells.
Considering that almost 90 percent of the eggshell is made up of pure calcium, an essential mineral that is important to our muscles and bones, you may want to think again before throwing the eggshells in the trash.
So how can you make the most of the precious calcium in the eggshell? Simple - keep reading:
Step 1
Wash 12 eggshells in a colander. Rinse well, but make sure the eggshell remains.
Step 2
Put the eggshells in a pot of boiling water and make sure they stay under the water. Boil for 10 minutes to get rid of bacteria.
Step 3
Remove the eggshells from the water and shake well to get rid of any remaining water. Place the shells on a baking pan and place in the oven at 200 degrees celcius for 15 minutes.
Step 4
When the shells become very crispy, take them out and let them cool. Then put them in a blender and blend until powdered.
Step 5
You now have a powder that is pure calcium! .. and you can use it in meals: just sprinkle the powder over soups, desserts, sauces or drinks. The extra calcium will keep the bones in your body healthy and strong!
Half a teaspoon contains about 400mg of calcium.
What an ingenious health idea that saves money and also contributes to the environment!
Please share this tip with everyone you know - hopefully more people will take advantage of the benefits eggs have to offer.
