There are ideas that are simply impossible not to share, and this crochet rug is definitely one of them.
I wish someone would have told us about this idea before..
A few years ago Finnish artist Johanna Hyrks came up with the idea of knitting a crochet rug in a circular shape around a chain of LED lights. And since then, this DIY project has been spreading around the world like wildfire.
Keep reading to learn how to make this rug that will brighten your home!
You need:
- Crochet hook (12 mm)
- Wool
- LED lights chain (approx. 10 meters)
Instructions:
Start knitting a circle
Once you have knitted a little, you can start working around the LED lights chain.
If you have trouble knitting in a circular shape, watch the video below.
Knit a spiral around the LED lights.
At the end, weave the edges and the rug will look like this.
And everything becomes magical as soon as you turn it on!
Remember to use LED lights because they do not heat up, which reduces the risk of fire and also saves electricity.
It is also important to note that you will not be able to wash the rug, so if you are using white wool, you may want to think about a suitable location for it before you start.
