New study says: this is why you should never sleep on your right side!
|
Most of us sleep for at least 8 hours each night. That basically means we are sleeping a third of our lives.
Sleeping is very important for our general health, and when you're not sleeping well at night, not only will you feel tired - your whole body will get out of balance.
A study that was recently conducted by the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology teached us that not only how much we sleep is important, but also the way we sleep as well.
The study focuses specifically on how our body position while we're sleeping can dramatically affect our health.
1. Better for the heart
Sleeping on your left side helps the body to stream blood flow more easily. That's because the larger veins are mostly on the left side. When you sleep on your right side, the blood has to first go up. So when you're sleeping on the left side, the veins get an extra help along the way.
2. Better for digestion
Sleeping on the right side, makes it easier for the stomach acids to reach the esophagus, which causes acid reflux. So if you're suffering from different digestive problems it's important that you sleep on your left side so the acids won't get out.
3. Improves lymph drainage
Sleeping on the left side is better for the lymph drainage, according to the study.
The lypmh drainage system transfers good and important nutritiens for the body, as well as cleans and detoxifies the body.
4. Fits with our anatomy better
The stomach and the pancreas are located on the left part of the body. So, the body has to work harder when we sleep on the right side.
5. Reduces pressure off the spleen
The spleen is also located on the left part of the body. It's job is to clean the blood. Toxins and other material the body doesn't need are transfered through the lymph system to the spleen, that can reject them from the body faster. Sleeping on the left side helps the spleen to work more efficienty.
