For many people, middle school is a pressure tank full of difficulties, conflicts, physical growth, and strong emotions. This can be a time full of challenges.
This mother's daughter started her first day in junior high, but the night before, the mother had taught her a valuable lesson for life with a toothpaste, and it became viral for all the right reasons...
My daughter starts learning in junior high tomorrow. We decorated her locker, bought her new clothes, and even we surprised her with a new school bag. But the night before, we made another task of pre-school, a task far more important than the others. I gave her a tube of toothpaste, and asked her to press to remove all grease onto a plate. When she finished, I asked her calmly return the toothpaste back into the tube. She began screaming things like 'but I can't!' and "It won't look the same as before!". I waited quietly for her to finish, and then I told her the following:
"You'll remember this toothpaste plate for the rest of your life. Your words have the power of life or death. When you go to junior high, you'll see what weight your words have. You will have the opportunity to use your words to hurt, to demand, to discredit or hurt others. You will also have the opportunity to use your words to heal, encourage, inspire and love others. Sometimes you'll make the wrong decisions; I can think of three times a week I used my words insensitively and hurt someone. Just like toothpaste, as soon as the words come out of your mouth, you can not bring them back. Use your words carefully, Brianna. When others do not choose their words right, keep yours. Do the choice every day that life-giving words will come out of your mouth. Make up your mind tonight that you will 'give life' in junior high. Let them recognize you by the gentle and compassion that you have. Use your life to give life to the world that needs them desperately. Never, but never regret you have selected nicely".
