10 tips and tricks that will help you keep your food fresh for longer

Everyone wants the best and freshest food for themselves and their family, but not everyone can make it to the grocery store every day.

1. Freezing milk a few weeks in advance
If you bought a lot of milk and only then remembered that you're going on vacation, don't worry, it won't spoil - if you freeze it. But there are some rules. Pour some milk out of the bottle before freezing, as the bottle will swell. If you decide to freeze the milk, don't leave it in the freezer for more than 4-6 weeks.
2. Freezing eggs in an ice tray
Sometimes we don't use all the eggs as long as they are fresh, or we only use the white and don't touch the yolk. Don't worry, they can also be frozen! Break them, and put the contents in an ice tray. Add some salt or (this will preserve their texture). Then use when you need.
3. Storing sauces in freezer bags
Leftover sauces can also be frozen. Pour it into a sealed bag, and put it in the freezer.
4. Lettuce leaves wrapped in a paper towel will stay fresh longer
Lettuce will stay fresh and crisp for a week if you wrap it in a paper towel. The excess moisture will be absorbed by the paper towel and will not allow the leaves to wither.

6. Store carrots in sand to keep them fresh
Farmers recommend storing carrots in sand, which is not surprising at all. Sand reduces evaporation of water and slows down the decay process.
7. You will prevent cottage cheese and sour cream from spoiling by putting them upside down
Your cottage cheese and sour cream will stay fresh twice as long if you put them upside down in the fridge. This will create a vacuum inside and prevent bacteria from growing.
8. Green onions will stay fresh longer if you put them in water
Put a group of green onions in a jar full of water and it will stay fresh longer. Cut as much of it as you need, and then it will continue to grow.
9. Green leaves are recommended to be stored in a glass jar
A glass jar is the best container for storing leafy greens. Onions, garlic or parsley will retain their flavor for more than a month this way. The greens will not spoil, wither, dry or lose their aroma.
10. Prevent oxidation of honey by storing it in a glass jar
Honey can retain its properties for years, but it is important to store it properly. The best container is a dark glass jar with a tight lid. Other vessels are not suitable because the honey will oxidize inside them.
