Being a parent is not an easy task. Not only do you spend your days trying to prevent your children from getting hurt or harmed, but there are also so many things you're unaware of that are just waiting to frustrate you on the way.

Sometimes, when you try to overprotect your baby you are actually doing the opposite, and there is nothing worse than unintentionally hurting the ones you love.

We recently came across an article explaining the hidden dangers of covering a baby stroller with a blanket in an attempt to protect your baby from the sun. As summer approaches, we thought of sharing this warning with everyone, as it poses a serious danger we didn't even think of ..

We all know and recognize the danger of a child being locked inside a vehicle when it's hot outside, and inspired by that understanding, we have now learned that covering the baby stroller with a blanket creates a similar effect.

Of course, it certainly makes sense to cover the baby and protect him/her from the sun's rays, but when we do this the temperatures inside the stroller actually climb to extremely dangerous levels. A greenhouse-like effect is created, and the baby is in real danger when he/she is in the stroller for a long time.

According to BabyCenter.com, pediatrician Svante Norgren told the swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet that "There is also poor air circulation and it's difficult to see the baby when the stroller is covered".

To test the theory, the paper decided to conduct an experiment, and the results were frightening.

Without the cover, the temperature in the cart left in the sun was 22 degrees (celcius).

But with the cover, the temperature climbed up to 34 degrees, and after an hour the temperature rose further and reached 37 degrees!

So as it turns out, covering your baby in the sun can be a lot more dangerous than you think. I wasn't even aware of this, and although I take precautions when it comes to my children, it's scary to think what would have happened if I had not read it.

Share this with your friends and family to keep your kids safe in the sun!
