The heart breaks as a horse smelled his owner's coffin, couldn't stop crying and broke into pieces

When tragedy occurs, we understand the strong bond between humans and animals. For the sweet horse Sereno, the world broke to pieces when he lost his best friend - Wagner Lima.

The 34-year-old cowboy from Paraguay passed away on New Year's Eve of 2017 in a car accident in Brazil.

Many people came to his funeral to mourn the loss of their dear one, but they were all completely taken aback when they saw the reaction of his beloved horse.

Wagner and his horse Sereno were very close and passed together in the rodeo for almost a decade. His brother, Vando, said Wagner sacrificed a lot to take care of his horse.

"He had a great passion and love for him", Vando said. "Sometimes he would even stop buying things for himself to make sure he had money to buy food for his horse".

So when the tragedy hit and he lost his brother in a motorcycle accident, Vando thought the right thing to do would be to let Sereno be at the funeral.

He led the funeral to Wagner's resting place in Brazil.

Sereno went with them and when the coffin was close enough for Sereno to smell it, the horse did something that amazed everyone.

"When we pulled out the closet at the start of the funeral, Sereno sounded like he was crying and as if he recognized his owner leaving him. He roamed on the floor with his feet and didn't stop whining", said Francielio Limiera, a friend of the family.

Now sweet Sereno lives with Wanger's brother, Wando and his family.
