A traveling photographer found a "hole" in the desert. But what he discovered inside amazed the whole world!

There are many remarkable places in the world, but I must say that this is one the craziest we've ever seen.
It may look like a scene out of some science-fiction film.. but its totally real. Join us for a breath taking travel - deep underground..
Coober Pedy, a town in the southern part of Australia, is located in a very unfriendly environment.
Temperatures at summer get over 40 degrees Celcius. And nights are very cold.
In Coober Pedy you have to be careful where you're going.. you can see warning signs like those everywhere.
It's because you can see "holes" like these everywhere. We're wondering what went through the photographer's mind when he saw this..
Yes, the place is filled with such "holes". This picture was taken from high above, from the sky
In 1915 they found the rare ruby stone Opal in this area. And in Coober Pedy there are more than 70 fields of Opal. That's why its called "The world's capital of Opal".
This could have been one of many mining cities..
But when you see this, you wonder.. what's under?
An Underground City!
Several years ago, the miners found a genius solution to the extreme heat outside: to build everything underground. They started building houses. And that was also the easiest way to get to work..
In these underground houses, the temperature is comfortable. An average appartment like this contains two bedrooms, kitchen, living room and bath rooms. The stone walls were painted to prevent dust leaking off them.
Imagine living in a place like this!
Most houses, companies, and buildings in Coober Pedy are found in holes, and caves.
They also have church. Pretty awesome, isn't it?
A jewelry store..
.. and a book store.
You can relax in their underground pub with cold beer..
and play pool..
Most of the 2000 people who live in Coober Pedy continue to build and live underground. The name of the town, Coober Pedy, comes from the aboriginal term "Kupa Pit", which means "Cave of a white man".
If you ever visit this town, you can sleep in an underground hotel. But we think it's best to ensure you're not clastrophobic first..
There are also a number of above-the-ground attractions too.. they have a 9 holes golf field.
Because of the hot temperature during the day, its better to play golf at night. The Coober Pedy golf club has a cooperation with the famous scottish golf club Saint Andrews, also known as "home" of golf.
As you can see there are many attractions there. For instance, this spacecraft from the science-fiction film "Pitch black".
And if none of this interests you, you can just enjoy the remarkable desert view.
