Many of the models we see every day are young women who have undergone cosmetic surgery. The beauty and fashion industries are constantly evolving, shaping and breaking stereotypes over time.
Rosa Saito is currently a 71-year-old model who’s here to prove that beauty exists at every age.

Saito didn’t become a model until she was 68, when, as she puts it, she “heard the calling”. Originally named Setsuko Saito, she changed her first name to Rosa to make it easier to use on Instagram.
While Rosa began her modeling career much later than most, that didn’t stop her from tenaciously pursuing her dreams. Her adventurous spirit even landed her a spot at São Paulo Fashion Week.

Rosa was born in Araraquara, São Paulo. As a child, she was drawn to many creative endeavors - painting, writing, and singing - always knowing she would continue to work creatively into adulthood.
“I always knew I’d pursue something creative, something where I could invent. Everything I do, I approach from that angle”, she said.

Rosa overcame numerous hardships before starting her modeling career. At age 22, she had to care for her bedridden mother. Later, she became a single mother to three children after her husband passed away in 2000.
Only after being approached three times did she finally consider entering the modeling world.
“Twice it was professionals from the Mega modeling agency, and once it was a photographer. I let the idea sit for a year - after all, there were costs involved. It wasn’t something I was going to dive into blindly. But eventually, I decided to take the risk,” she recalls.

Her upbringing, her love for plants and all things natural, and her positive outlook helped her modeling career take off quickly.
“True beauty comes from genuinely caring for your thoughts and your spirituality. A person can be beautiful, charming, kind - it’s so much more than tight, flawless looks. It’s the substance that matters, in my opinion,” Rosa says.
