We all have our faults. We are confident that each of you can think of at least one thing you would like to change within yourself if you could.

However, we often times judge others too quickly and cause pain with our words and actions.

But the truth is, looks do not define a person - we are much more than that. The purpose of this story is to make people look beyond the physical appearance, and instead to start looking at the person inside.

The story begins with a man boarding a plane and getting a seat near the window. It's a regular flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong. But when an overweight woman comes to sit next to him, his biggest nightmare becomes reality.

"Hi how are you?"

The woman smiled as she sat next to me. She had to lower herself, and press her buttocks into the chair, filling every free inch.

Positioning herself comfortably, she put her huge arm on our joint armrest. Its enormous size filled the space between us, and shrunk me and my seat to the size of an ant.

I clung to the window for lack of choice.

She leaned in my direction and continued to greet me in a friendly voice. Her face is over my head, forcing me to look at her. "Hi!", I answered with obvious disgust.

I like this

I turned and looked out the window, muttering in whispers about the long hours of discomfort I was about to experience with this monster next to me.

She gave me a small blow with her meaty arm. "My name is Laura. I'm from Britain. What about you? Japan?".

"Malaysia", I replied sadly.

"I'm so sorry! Will you accept my sincere apology? Come on, shake hands. If we're going to spend a six-hour flight next to each other, we'd better be friends. Don't you think?", and a huge palm appeared in front of my face. I shook her hand reluctantly, still not saying a word.

Laura started a conversation with me, when she didn't really notice my unfriendly responses. She talked enthusiastically about herself and her trip to Hong Kong to meet friends. She talked about a list of things she was going to buy for her students at a boarding school where she is teaching.

For all her questions I answered with one word. Not worried about my coolness, she nodded and reacted pleasantly to my answers. Her voice was pleasant and caring. She was considerate and courteous when they served us food and drinks, making sure I had room to move in my chair. "I don't want to crush you with my elephant size!" She said with incredible honesty.

To my surprise, her face, which had turned me down a few hours ago, now seemed beautiful, and she serenely calmed. I couldn't help lowering my protective layer.

Laura was an interesting conversationalist. She was familiar with many subjects from philosophy to science. She turned unimportant subjects into something fun to explore and be interested in. Her responses were full of humor and inspiration. When our subject went to culture, I was surprised by her intelligent responses.

During the conversation, Laura managed to get every steward and stewardess who served us food and drinks to go with a smile on their face.

When one of the stewardesses cleared the trays, Laura laughed at her size. The flight attendant was torn with laughter and while holding Laura's hand, she said to her, "You really made the day for me!".

In the minutes that followed, Laura listened intently and gave the stewardess advice on her weight. The grateful stewardess said before she left, "I have to work. I'll come back later to talk to you about it".

I asked Laura, "Have you ever thought about dieting?"

She answered, "No. I worked hard to get to this state. Why would I want to give it up?"

I asked her, "Are not you worried about heart disease that may appear because of excess weight?"

"Not at all. You get sick only if you're worried about your weight all the time. You see an advertisement from a diet club that says, 'Free yourself from your extra baggage so you'll be free to be yourself' and it's nonsense! You are relieved only if you are comfortable with yourself, and with how you look at any moment of the day and every moment of the year. Why would I want to waste time on a diet regime when I have so many important things to do and so many people who are my good friends? I eat healthy and walk regularly; It's my size because I was born big! There's more to life than worrying about your weight all day".

She drank her wine and continued. "Besides, God gives me so much happiness that I need a big body that can contain it all! Why would I want to lose weight to lose happiness?". I was surprised by this sentence, and I laughed.

Laura went on, "People usually look at her as the fat woman with her big chest, big thighs and big buttocks that no man will ever want to look at. They look at me and see someone neglected. They think I'm lazy and have no willpower. They're wrong".

She lifted the glass towards the stewardess that passed. "Can I have more of this wonderful wine, please?", saying as she smiled at her. "Wonderful service from your team. God bless you all".

She turned to me, "I'm actually a thin person inside. I'm full of energy that people can't keep up with. The excess weight is here to slow me down, otherwise I'll run around chasing men all day".

"Are men chasing you?", I asked humorously.

"Of course they are. I'm happily married, but men still flirt with me. Most of them have relationship problems and they need someone they can trust. For some reason, they like talking to me. I think I should have been a counselor instead of a teacher". Laura paused for a moment before saying, "You know, relationships between men and women are complex. Women adore men and call them, 'Honey' until they discover they lied to them. And men love women so much that they see them as a soul mate until they see the charges on their credit card, and then the women become a devil".

Conversations with Laura made the flight very enjoyable. I was also fascinated by the way people were attracted to her. By the end of the flight, nearly half the crew had been standing next to us, laughing and joking with Laura. The passengers next to us also joined the celebration. Laura was the center of everything, filling the plane with a pleasant warmth.

When we waved goodbye after we arrived at the airport in Hong Kong, I saw her walking towards a large group of adults and children who were waiting for her admiringly. The group hugged and kissed Laura as sounds of joy were filling the background. She turned and winked at me.

I was shocked, and then I realized: Laura was the most beautiful woman I have ever met.

Did you think Laura sounded like an amazing woman?
