"The customer is always right" is a well-known saying in customer service, but there are definitely some exceptions to that rule.
Anyone who has worked in customer service understands what we mean—those customers who think they’re above everyone else, expect to be treated like royalty, and treat staff poorly.
This story is about a woman working at an airline check-in counter who had a clever way of handling rude customers. Her response to a disrespectful passenger was spot on and made us chuckle.

The woman at the check-in counter at LaGuardia Airport in New York deserves a medal for how she handled a rude and obnoxious customer! This one’s for everyone who's had to deal with difficult customers.
A full flight on Southwest Airlines was canceled because of bad weather, and one agent was busy booking alternative flights for a long line of disappointed travelers.
Out of nowhere, a rude guy pushed past everyone and got to the front of the line. He slammed his ticket down on the counter and demanded, "I need to be on this flight, and it has to be first class!".
The agent calmly responded, "I'm sorry, sir, but I can help you as soon as I finish with these people in line. Then we can sort something out for you."
The passenger wasn't happy about that.
He yelled loudly so everyone behind him could hear, "Do you know who I am?".
Without missing a beat, the agent smiled and picked up the microphone so everyone could hear.
“Ladies and gentlemen, can I have your attention?” she said (her voice echoed throughout the terminal). “We have a passenger at Gate 14 who doesn’t know who he is. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to Gate 14.”
As the people behind him burst out laughing, the man glared at the Southwest agent and said, “Go F** yourself!”.
Without flinching, she smiled and replied, “I’m sorry, sir, but even for that, you’ll have to wait in line.”
