Gang members dragged a cop into the woods to kill him - they had no idea what was waiting for them

There is a reason why dogs have served as guardians for centuries, if not millennia.
We can always count on our canine companions; they are loyal and will defend and protect us. Officer Todd Fraser knows this all too well, having faced a life-threatening encounter with gang members.
Todd made the mistake of walking into a trap set by criminals intent on killing him. However, they were unaware that Todd possessed a secret weapon—one that would ultimately save his life.
One day, while on patrol, Officer Fraser approached a vehicle where an unconscious man sat inside. Noticing the man's distress, he immediately set to work, attempting to gain entry to the car to offer assistance.
At that moment, two other men ambushed him from behind. The trio of criminals worked in unison, dragging Officer Fraser into a nearby forest, where they assaulted him and declared their intention to kill him.
As Sheriff Don Bass recounted, "They threatened to slit his throat and forcibly pulled him into the forest."
Fortunately, Officer Fraser had a trick up his sleeve that the gang members were not prepared for. His police belt featured a special button that allowed him to open a compartment in his police car and release his partner—Lucas the dog.
Barely a second had passed after Todd pressed the button when he heard Lucas racing toward him, filled with fury.
"He knew; I could hear him coming," Fraser said. "I couldn't see anything because of all the blood in my eyes, but I could hear him growling and making sounds... He sounded like a wolf, and I thought to myself, 'Now he's going to catch you.'"
Lucas arrived and immediately launched an attack on the three men without hesitation. The criminals fled, but not before one of them left something behind.
"We don't know how many he attacked; we only know he was covered in blood," Sheriff Ricky Adam said of the heroic dog.
Officer Fraser recognizes how fortunate he was: "Three men attacked me, and I'm not a particularly large individual. They overwhelmed me, but thank God Lucas was there, and I had that button on my belt. As soon as I pressed it, Lucas leaped out of the car and confronted the three men. That's why he is my hero."
Lucas suffered a torn ligament and lost several teeth while performing his duty, but he made a full recovery after receiving exceptional veterinary care. His bravery earned him the title 'Hero of the Year.'
What a remarkable testament to the bravery and courage of dogs. Thank goodness Lucas was by Officer Fraser's side, as this story could have concluded in a far more tragic manner.
