A woman's dog began barking madly in the forest: what she discovered in the ground froze her in place

A few hours after he was born, Matthew was left behind.

But they didn’t leave him with someone else or put him up for adoption - he was buried alive.

Two decades ago, someone dug a makeshift grave on a hiking trail in Altadena, California. Why? To bury a defenseless baby.

An unknown person left the baby in a small hole and covered it with dirt and stones.

In 1998, Azita Milanian went for a run with her dogs on that same hiking trail shortly after Matthew was left there.

One of her dogs caught a scent and started sniffing around.

As Azita got closer to where her dog had led her, she thought she might find a small animal. But when she looked closely, she felt a shiver down her spine.

Azita couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw two little legs sticking out of the ground.

She immediately started digging to get the boy out. She had no idea if he was alive or not.

"I just screamed, there was a blue towel and a baby wrapped inside," Azita said.

Since she had no cell service, she couldn’t call the police. All Azita could do was run to the nearest road and wave to passing cars.

A driver stopped and took them to the closest police station. There, Azita stayed with Matthew, gently cleaning and comforting him.

Sometimes, all we really need is a little human connection.

"He held my hand and stopped crying; it was really emotional," Azita remembers.

At the same time, Azita couldn’t understand how someone could do such a thing. The umbilical cord was still attached to the baby.

Luckily, help came quickly, and after getting medical care, Matthew survived.

The little fighter was eventually adopted by a loving family, and his biological mother was never found or arrested.

By the time he was older, Matthew didn’t know what had happened to him as a baby. But one day, while driving with his grandmother, she asked if anyone had told him the truth.

"She told me the whole story, and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. So, I went home, did some research, told everyone, and felt pretty cool that I survived something so impossible," Matthew said.

Matthew also wanted to find the angel who saved him and thank her personally. She could have ignored her dog and kept running, but she didn’t, and that saved his life.|

20 years later ..

Even though Azita tried to find out what happened to Matthew, it was tough. Once he was adopted, she realized she had no way to contact his family.

She felt sad but was comforted knowing there was a family out there that loved him and would do anything for him.

In the end, it was celebrity Ryan Seacrest who helped Matthew meet Azita. He invited them both to his studio and filmed their reunion.

Azita said she had been waiting to see him for 20 years.

"You are exactly how I imagined you would be. I guessed your size and everything. Thank you for coming into my life; you changed it. I knew we would meet again. The day I met him confirmed my fate. God brought us together for a greater reason."
