This is the worst thing that can happen.

Brian, the beloved husband of Courtney Hill, served for many years in the United States Army. He was deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, and although he had been in many dangerous situations over the years, Brian always made it home safely.

After some time, he was discharged from the military and began focusing on his family. He left the service in good health, and now the family was looking forward to building their future together.

But in February 2016, tragedy struck.

When Courtney Hill received the news, her world shattered into pieces.

Brian had died in a car accident.

He left behind Courtney and their daughter, Reagan, who had to say goodbye to a loving husband and devoted father.

Before Brian’s death, the couple had decided to grow their family. On the morning Brian passed away, the two had taken a pregnancy test—it was negative.

But just a few days later, while still deep in mourning and in the midst of funeral arrangements, Courtney took another test. This time, she received shocking news: she was, in fact, pregnant.

So on the day of Brian’s funeral, Courtney walked up to his casket, leaned in, and whispered, “Sweetheart, you’re going to be a dad again.”

As the months passed, Courtney continued to grieve, trying her best to adjust to life as a single mother.

Then, she was struck by a sharp physical pain. Fearing the worst—that she had lost the baby—she rushed to the doctor.

She braced herself for devastating news… but instead, she received life-changing news: the ultrasound revealed two boys and a girl—Courtney was pregnant with triplets.

“I was speechless. But I was overjoyed to know I’d have three more smiles to remind me of Brian,” she said.

Still, Courtney’s journey was filled with both hope and heartache.

At 25 weeks into the pregnancy, another tragedy occurred. One of the babies no longer had a heartbeat.

Courtney’s heart broke once again. But as this story has shown, grief and hope often walk hand in hand. Even in the darkest moments, light can find its way in—and that was true for Courtney.

On September 21, she gave birth to two healthy babies—Miles and Harper.

“Most triplets need to stay in the hospital for weeks. Not in our case. We all went home the very next day. We’ve suffered so much, but we were also blessed with little miracles,” said Courtney.

Together with their sister Reagan, Miles and Harper are the pride and joy of their mother. She doesn’t call them twins—she calls them triplets who miss their brother.

Of course, she mourns her husband. But she finds strength in the belief that he is watching over them, guarding their family from above.

She looks to the future and is excited to raise her children. She knows that their father, Brian, would have been proud of them.

Courtney has experienced firsthand how precious happiness can be—and that’s why she cherishes every moment with her little angels.

Life hasn’t been easy for this family, but with the incredible support of loved ones, Courtney remains optimistic about what lies ahead.

Courtney is truly inspiring. Despite everything she’s been through, she stays positive and grateful for all that life still has to offer.
