Warning about a new trick: If you see a plastic bottle on your vehicle tire, you may be in danger

Thieves who rob drivers and steal their cars are a big worry for police everywhere.

The trick is pretty simple: the thieves put a target on cars in parking lots.

Usually, it’s just an empty plastic bottle placed over the right tire. The driver typically doesn’t notice it, and then they wait.

When the driver is about to leave, they hear weird noises as the plastic bottle starts to break. Not knowing about the bottle or the thieves nearby, the driver’s first instinct is to get out of the car and see what’s causing the noise.

At this point, the thieves put their plan into action.

While the driver is checking their car, the thieves now have an opportunity to get into the unlocked car, which they couldn't do before.

They might grab valuable items from inside, or if the driver left the keys in the ignition, they could even drive off with the car.
